Requirements for Certification
The shop just down the road won't be authorized to certify a pre-owned Volvo — only an authorized Volvo dealer can vet models. Limiting authorization empowers customers to trust in the expert knowledge and experience of Volvo technicians. Our service techs will test each model by the Volvo standards for age, mileage and condition, and then they'll conduct a thorough inspection covering more than 170 points. With a clipboard in hand, they'll go over the powertrain, steering, suspension and more. Plus, since every Certified by Volvo model comes with a five-year/unlimited-mile warranty,1 you'll be feeling confident in your purchase long after you drive off our lot.

Certified FAQs
What are the age, mileage and condition requirements for Volvo certification?
The Volvo must be no older than five years old and must have 80,000 miles or fewer with a "clean" CARFAX™ Vehicle History Report®. After meeting those requirements, it must pass a rigorous inspection that thoroughly checks more than 170 different points.
Can I extend the warranty coverage on my Certified by Volvo model?
Yes. You can receive additional coverage, up to a total of 10 years and unlimited miles, at the time you purchase your Certified by Volvo model by purchasing a Certified by Volvo Service Contract plan through your authorized Volvo dealer.
Is the Certified by Volvo warranty transferable if I sell my vehicle?
Of course. Once a Volvo is certified, this designation stays with the vehicle. The warranty is fully transferable to the new owner at no charge for the remainder of its lifetime.
