What’s new in the 2022 Volvo XC60
For years, the XC60 has had two gas powertrains, the T5 and T6. But this year, Volvo has opted to replace the T5 and T6 with the B5 and B6 mild-hybrid engines instead. Thus making the XC60 a fully hybrid vehicle. The Volvo XC60 has received several subtle changes like a new grille, a re-worked front bumper, and an updated wheel design. Volvo is also replacing the XC60’s Sensus infotainment system with a more modern Google Android-based interface. The screen will still be the same shape and size as found in previous years, but with some new software like a voice-assistant feature and navigation via Google Maps.
Features of the 2022 Volvo XC60
With its upscale features and stylish cabin, the Volvo XC60 allows a comfortable ride for up to five passengers. The XC60 comes in one of three different trims the Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription and is powered by one of three different powertrains.
This year, the XC60 will be powered by either the B5, B6, or returning T8 engine. The base powertrain, the B5, is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt hybrid system that produces 247 horsepower. The next option, the B6, enhances the B5 engine by adding a supercharger, allowing the B6 to generate 295 horsepower. The T8, also known as the Recharge, is the strongest of the three powertrains and is a plug-in hybrid. This engine pairs the B6 engine with an electric motor, allowing for 400 horsepower to be produced.
Integrated throughout the XC60’s three trims are a host technology. Features like a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and a multitude of driver-assistance features are common in this vehicle. Less common features include an upgraded 15-speaker audio system, heated seats, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera, which are found in either higher trims or optional packages.
