2021 volvo xc60If you’re looking to buy a brand-new SUV that’s both lavish and full of standard features, chances are the 2021 Volvo XC60 is near the top of your wish list. While there are plenty of fish in the luxury SUV sea, there are none quite like Volvo’s latest iteration of their small crossover.

This year, Volvo upped the ante with the XC60 by cramming it with standard features. In past years, you often had to work your way up the trim level to get some of the latest and greatest technology. Now, even with the base model, Volvo is offering customers some of the best features the brand has to offer.

2021 Volvo XC60 - New Standard Features

In terms of new standard features, the 2021 Volvo XC60 raises the bar for luxury SUVs.

On the exterior, expect all trims to come with LED headlights, newly designed 19” wheels and power-folding side mirrors. Within the cabin, passengers can enjoy a wireless phone charging pad regardless of trim. Top that off with a bundle of new safety features, including blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and you’ve got quite the package for base-model prices.

Considering what has previously come standard in the Volvo XC60 and what the competition offers with the base trim, you can’t ask for better value.

2021 Volvo XC60 - Trims and Prices

The 2021 Volvo XC60 comes in four different trims, each offering their own unique bundle of features. You’ve already heard about the base Momentum trim, which starts at $41,700 MSRP.

Next up is the R-Design, a sleeker, sportier version of the Momentum, starting at $46,850 MSRP. The R-Design features an advanced chassis for hugging the curves and leather seating to ensure your comfort whether you’re cruising around town or taking the XC60 for a few laps around the track.

Go up the ladder one more rung, and you’ll find the Inscription, starting at $47,150. Despite not being the top-of-the-line model, the Inscription is where Volvo puts the “luxury” in “luxury SUV.” With an elegantly appointed interior, sophisticated design and a 12.3” infotainment system, you’ll wonder why you ever drove anything else.

Not sold yet? How about the extravagant Polestar, which carries a starting price of $69,500 MSRP. Volvo pulls out all of the stops with this masterpiece, delivering a dynamic driving experience with a beefed up hybrid motor, an irresistible cockpit design and more bells and whistles than you could ever dream of.

If you’re looking for a hybrid SUV, the 2020 Volvo XC90 also deserves your consideration.

2021 Volvo XC60 - Specs

The first three trims of the 2021 Volvo XC60 come equipped with the T5 powertrain, a 2L turbocharged engine packing 250 horsepower. All trims except the Polestar can be upgraded to the T6 powertrain, a supercharged version that boasts 316 horsepower. The Polestar comes with the hybrid T8 powertrain under the hood, while the R-Design and Momentum can have it swapped in for an extra $11,800.

All-wheel drive is available on all trims, although it does come standard on the Polestar.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 claims 25 mpg combined for the base T5 powertrain, and 23 combined for the supercharged T6.

2021 Volvo XC60 - Final Thoughts

There’s plenty to get excited about with the 2021 Volvo XC60, which is primed to compete with the top competitors in its class. Considering it’s relatively affordable price tag, plethora of standard features and wide array of optional goodies, the value is through the roof. If you’re in the market for a small luxury SUV, the 2021 Volvo XC60 needs to be in the running.
